  1. WINVIEW is a sample Microsoft utility from of their "Developer
  2. Network CD Disk Five" and is meant to be distributed freely,
  3. as per its disclaimer in the About dialog box.  WINVIEW allows
  4. "spying" on a window, showing its message traffic.

  6. To use, select the Browse! menu pick, then move the mouse over any
  7. window object--a pushbutton, data field, form window, etc.--and
  8. double-click to set.  Select the menu item Capture On! to begin
  9. displaying any messages sent to that object.  Capture Off! halts
  10. the display.

  12. Double-clicking on the elongated pushbuttons labeled "HWND",
  13. "Message", "wParam" and "lParam" change the display mode for that
  14. column.

  16. Menu Options! allows for configuration and message filtering.
  17.  
  18. Menu File/View Window Information... displays a hierarchy of currently
  19. running application and windows.  The display is in outline format;
  20. Double-clicking on an icon or folder expands/collapses that section.
